Mandatory waiting period of 48 hours for abortion in Tennessee
24-4-2021: The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals allowed a 48-hour mandatory waiting period for abortion to take effect immediately in Tennessee. This requirement is totally unnecessary and violates women's constitutional right to access abortion services.
This will make abortion harder to access for especially those who already face barriers to abortion care. Aid Access will continue to help people with an unwanted pregnancy without unnecessary requirements such as these waiting periods by providing telemedical abortions which are supported by the World Health Organisation.
