  • How long do you bleed after an abortion pill?

    The heaviest bleeding typically occurs 2-5 hours after taking Misoprostol and usually slows down within 24 hours of using abortion pills, but times may vary.

  • What if you don’t bleed after Misoprostol?

    If you wait 4 hours and have no bleeding after misoprostol, you can take another 2 tablets misoprostol and again 3 hours later (you can continue using 2 tablets of misoprostol each 3 hours). If there is still no bleeding after a few days, you should have an ultrasound.

  • Side effects of a medical abortion:

    Medical abortion can cause side effects such as pain, cramping, bleeding, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, hot flashes or fever.

  • How do you know if the abortion pill worked?

    You may feel the symptoms of pregnancy subside. You can take a home pregnancy test 4 weeks after or have an ultrasound to know if the abortion pill worked.

  • I still have a positive pregnancy test after doing the abortion

    If it has been LESS than 5 weeks since you took the pills, then a positive pregnancy test does NOT necessarily mean that you are still pregnant.
    If the test is positive ( two stripes) more than 5 weeks after you did the abortion, you might still be pregnant. This can be confirmed by doing an ultrasound
